Jan Hemels, Laura C. and Chino Lemus win New Unofficial Contest September 2008

First of all we wanted to thank you all for taking part again in the fourth New Unofficial Contest, most beautiful picture of the month September 2008.
This month we had 100 participants in the contest who uploaded a picture, that is a record and we are very proud of reaching this 100. We hope this would be more and more in the future.
The poster is hit for about 2589 times and you members voted 353 times.
There were 11 pictures left for the second round because there were many pictures with the same amount of votes.
This time Macpit joined us in the jury. Thanks to Macpit for all the input and the work you did for the contest.
The jury had another difficult month because there were a lot of beautiful pictures in the top 11 and also we as jury didn't match at the beginning. But finally after some time we could make a top 3 and we are very proud of the winners and also the runner ups.
So here are the winners.
On the first place we have the picture of Jan Hemels, congratulations Jan, a Woophy icon will be added to your profile.
On the winning photo we can see Jan's favourite mills. This typical Dutch scenery becomes embedded in memory of everyone, who has beheld it. The mills seem to emerge from a cover of morning mist, facing the impressive light of a dawn. A great contrast between darkness of a night and upcoming sunlight creates unique and nostalgic atmosphere. Thanks to Jan's photo everyone of us can experience that fragile and fleeting moment which is impossible to forget. A technical perfection and a poetic sensitivity have enraptured jury and caused that the winner has been picked without any doubts. These are my favourite mills too, Jan!

On the second place the picture of Laura C.:
Laura shows us some very beautiful large waterfalls in Brasil. They look amazing, look at the fog that comes from the falls, it’s beautiful and gives a great atmosphere.
The contrast between the front and background of the picture is great. In the background there is less light and colour and looks a little dark, the foreground shows amazing lights and colours. Look at the walking bridge and the water how nice it is lighted.
The people walking on the bridge finished this picture, even those people are well coloured so they are very noticeable, very good !

On the third place we selected the picture of Chino Lemus:
a marvellous picture with a special composition. only the reflection in the window let us know how pretty the girl is. The depth of the field, with its unsharp skyline of a city makes the compo so much better.
The light falls pretty around her shoulder and lights only her reflected face. The little noise and the choice in BW gives a impression of art.
